Airworthiness Surveyor

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands is seeking to employ an experienced and qualified Airworthiness Surveyor with requisite regulatory oversight experience who is able to function independently to internationally mandated standards.  The successful applicant will report to the Manager of Airworthiness and shall be based in the Cayman Islands. The functions of the post are to regulate and monitor the airworthiness of civil aircraft registered on the Cayman Islands Aircraft Registry to ensure compliance with the Air Navigation (Overseas Territories) Order.

The successful applicant must be prepared to work flexible hours and be willing and able to travel overseas on short notice as required.

Principal duties and responsibilities
To identify from established programmes of oversight, the competence and capability of organisations and personnel who manage the airworthiness and/or undertake the performance of maintenance for aircraft on the Cayman Islands Aircraft Registry, and to interpret aircraft technical publications for the purpose of reviewing such manuals and documents submitted for approval.

Qualifications Required:
The position requires the holder to have a relevant engineering degree or an acceptable Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Licence with additional technical qualifications for the release of aircraft to service. ‘Relevant engineering degree’ means an engineering degree from aeronautical, mechanical, electrical, electronic, avionic or other studies relevant to the maintenance and continuing airworthiness of aircraft/aircraft components.  Have a working knowledge of notable aviation regulatory requirements and understanding of aviation legislation applied in the Cayman Islands.

Experience Knowledge and Skills:
Seven years relevant work experience as an inspector with a major recognized national aviation regulatory authority and working independently in a supervisory and management role in two or more of the following functional areas:

  1. Aircraft Maintenance
  2. Aircraft Maintenance Quality Management
  3. Continued Airworthiness Management

Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills

Computer literacy with a working knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Word, Access and Excel

Possess integrity, sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy. Candidate must have strong initiative and good cooperative attitude.

Salary & Benefits:
Salary range is CI$77,147 to $127,089 per annum and will commensurate with qualification and experience.  Benefits include a contributory pension plan, 25 working days vacation and health insurance coverage.  In addition to the benefits package the CAACI also offers a challenging and dynamic work environment that is rewarding and fulfilling.
