The Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands (CAACI) is inviting applications for the position of: Junior Flight Operations Inspector

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands’ mission is to ensure effective regulatory oversight for safety of the Cayman Islands civil aviation industry. This role is based within the Flight Standards Division and provides advanced regulatory support in aircraft operations and airworthiness. It is specifically designed as a structured career-development pathway leading to appointment as a Junior Flight Operations Inspector.
This position is ideally suited to an experienced pilot or aviation professional who demonstrates strong potential and commitment to transitioning into a regulatory inspector role.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will, under appropriate supervision and direction:
• Assess applications and documentation supporting the issuance of aviation licences and certificates
• Prepare, review, and manage flight operations and airworthiness documentation for Cayman-registered aircraft
• Maintain technical records, regulatory files, and electronic databases
• Manage correspondence related to aircraft registration, oversight, and licensing
• Conduct Flight Operations, Dangerous Goods and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) inspection activities and prepare associated approvals
• Participate in CAACI’s Risk Management and oversight processes
• Perform additional regulatory and inspectorate support duties as required
• Provide professional client support and problem resolution

Essential Qualifications (you must meet these qualifications)
• Hold, or have previously held, a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) or Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL) issued by an ICAO Contracting State.
• Minimum of five (5) high school subject passes, including Mathematics and English
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and database applications
• Demonstrate strong organizational, analytical, communication, and teamwork skills
• Ability to successfully complete regulatory auditor and inspector training
• Ability to obtain a Restricted Identification & Security Access Control Card (ISACC)

Desirable Qualifications
• Experience in commercial and/or complex private air operations
• Experience as a crew member on an aircraft with an MTOW over 5700kg
• Flight Instructor experience
• At least three (3) years’ experience in an administrative, technical, or document management role, preferably within an aviation environment
• Knowledge of international aviation regulations
• Post-secondary qualification in Aviation Management or Aviation Safety
• Experience with regulatory auditing and/or Safety Management Systems (SMS)
• Familiarity with ICAO Annexes 6, 13, and 19

Career Development Pathway
This position is a developmental appointment as a Junior Flight Operations Inspector with structured opportunities for further training and career advancement. The Junior Inspector role is non-flying, however, pilot qualifications will be maintained through simulator or aircraft training in accordance with CAACI policy.

Salary & Benefits:
Salary range is CI$ 58,952.88 – $90,189.11 per annum, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Eligibility
This position is open to Caymanians and Permanent Residents who meet the essential qualifications. This is an on-island, office-based role requiring regular presence at the office. While flexible working hours may be considered, remote or off-island work arrangements are not available for this role.
