Cayman Maritime & Aviation City

The Cayman Islands has distinguished itself from other special economic zones and favourable tax jurisdictions,  with the establishment of the Cayman Maritime & Aviation City. This is a component of Cayman Enterprise City (CEC), an award winning Special Economic Zone, which enables businesses within the shipping and maritime industries and within the aviation industry to efficiently and cost-effectively set up a genuine physical presence with offshore company and staffed offices to generate an active business income onshore, in the Cayman Islands.

The ability for aviation companies to cost-effectively and time-efficiently set up a physical business presence within Cayman Maritime & Aviation City, can be useful in aiding aircraft registered with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands (CAACI) meet the requirements of obtaining an Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) to fly on flights for the purpose of commercial air transport, in particular in relation to the requirement to ‘maintain a principal place of business’ in the Cayman Islands.
